Besides cold and snowy, you mean?

We have several throughout the year, mostly the same as the rest of the continent: equinoxes, solstices, change of seasons, etc. But the most important holiday in Mille Seseau is the winter solstice. The days are extremely short by then, but we revere the solstice as the rebirth of the sun. We know, that after that darkest day of winter, the days will only get longer and warmer.  The night before, we decorate the Crystal Palace with candles that stay lit all night, to remind people that the light isn’t gone forever. Then, the next day we usually have some sort of feast in the city to celebrate surviving the deepest part of winter. 

My father was a drunk and my mother beat me on a regular basis. 

As far as adoptive parents go…Queen Theresa took me in after her husband died, only a month or so after Neet burned. I was 12. Luanna got adopted at the same time. Apparently the Queen had sent some knights out to find orphan girls that she could raise in Louvia’s place. Though she was often busy, Theresa was everything I could have dreamed of in a mother. She was patient and kind, even though I was angry and mistrustful. I hated Wink and Setie at first, you know. I thought that the Queen had a finite amount of love to give. I was wrong.

((Rofl! I actually ship Lavitz/Miranda, too. They have similar notions of love and loyalty, and based on Lavitz’s interactions with Rose, he likes them feisty. Lavitz’s mom wouldn’t like her much, though. lol))
